NZ Embassy

As a leading government department, and a crucial source of information for New Zealanders overseas, this site serving Embassies, High Commissions and representative offices needed to be highly accessible for all people, in areas with poor internet, and usable on mobile devices. The site loads fast, renders consistently, and has accessibility features such as access keys and full functionality with images turned off.

The design was created with these requirements in mind, working with brand guidelines to achieve a new look for the site. With content translated across many languages, for audiences across the world, the site interface had to present primarily text content clearly in any cultural context. The overall creative had to balance an appropriate sense of authority with a contemporary and authentically New Zealand feel.

Behind the scenes, publishing workflow allows an audit history of content updates and changes to online documents to be maintained. This allows greater access to creating and publishing content for staff in posts overseas, while staff in New Zealand can maintain universal content across pages and provide support as required.

Overall the site delivered to the business needs, has met with enthusiastic uptake from Ministry staff administering content and proved an excellent source of news and information for international audiences.
