Sparks Interactive work very closely with the team at the National Business Review to continually improve the website.
The NBR have embraced the power of the Drupal CMS. Key for them is ease of use, and the features it provides for delivering up to the minute content to their readership, including: automated story feeds from NZPA; the ability for reporters to publish breaking news as it happens; and true blog-style commentary and opinion from columnists - including allowing open comments from readers.
The streamlining of the process to publish online has resulted in more efficient online news room. On top of this a great deal of customisation has been added to improve the readers experience. Attention to Analytics and a keen awareness of the competitive online news space has driven a series of redesign projects to promote key content and improve relevancy for any given visitor. This has resulted in record visitor numbers and increased time on the site.
Client reaction:
"Web development has a bad rep. I use to accept that it takes twice as long and cost three times as much before you get what you want. Sparks Interactive changed that view. Dave, Hayden and the team spoke to us in plain english and guided us through the maze that is web development.
This was important considering we're journalists not IT managers or computer technicians. They made sure they got a clear understanding about what we wanted to achieve and only made useful suggestions based on that understanding.
They were never precious about stupid questions or outrageous demands and were always upfront and honest about all costs. Best of all they did an outstanding job on a brief that changed - and continues to change - almost daily.
NBR's brand is vital to our success in a very competitive media industry. Sparks ensured that our online presence not only lived up to that brand but enhanced it for a new generation of readers."
